Tilos island situated
between the islands of Nisyros and Halkiat a distance of 35 nautical
miles from the island of Rhodes ,and 290 miles from the port of Piraias.
Tilos display many worthwhile sites for the visitor. In the capital there is
a wonderful church of the Taxiarch,wich is the masterfully carved wooden
temple pulpit and throne.
Twenty iconographed chapels are found all over the island of Tilos and
whih have been painted from the 13th till the 16th centuries .Tilos is
ideal place for very quiet holidays

In November
of 1971 paleontologigal excavations inn the cave of Harkadio ,brought
to light many ancient relics: Bones of drawrf elephants which lived on the
island some 50000 years ago until some 3-4000 years ago, Bones of deer
and neolithic ceramics and stone tools .
These dwarf elephant bones can be seen by the visitor in the small
museum located in the town of Megalo Chorio ,together with other
findings |
