Greek Village
Salad / Horiatiki Salata

|
|
A true Greek Village
Salad is served only with a sprinkling of Olive oil.The oil mixes with the
juice from the vegetables and makes a flavorful addition for
you to dip your bread into as you eat.
Ingredients
|
| 3 tomatoes, cut
into wedges |
feta cheese, cut
into chunks |
| 1 green pepper cut
into thin rings |
olive oil |
| 1 medium onion,
sliced thinly |
salt and pepper |
| 1 cucumber, peeled
and sliced |
oregano |
| green or black
olives |
vinegar (optional) |
Place the vegetables into a salad
bowl, sprinkle with salt, pepper and oregano. Add the olives
and feta cheese. Pour olive oil over the salad. Add vinegar if
you wish.
Savvas Note: Add some
brime capers (you will find it in jars) and fresh cut rocka. I
cut the tomatoes wedges into half again, making them smaller
pieces and letting out all the juice into the salad. I vinegar
only the cucumber pieces, salt them and throw them in. You
should leave the salad to sit in room temperature for half an
hour before eating. Put also a little olive oil, pepper and a
little oregano on the feta cheese pieces before throwing in.
